SHENZHEN DESIGN WEEK 2024 - BRAIN VISIONS
Looking at our cities with brains
Exhibition Hall 4, Nanshan Museum, Shenzhen, China
The 2024 Shenzhen Design Week was jointly organized by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and the International Council of Design, with the theme "Design Makes Life Better." It featured four major activities: the opening ceremony, a global "Design City" roundtable and Global Designers Conference, the "Kunpeng Prize" Global Design Award ceremony and exhibition, and guest country activities. Additionally, 23 brand-specific events, multiple sub-venues, and year-round creative design activities were held.
The Design Week brought together international design leaders to promote the global creative design industry. France, as the guest country, showcased its leadership in fashion, art, and luxury design. Representatives from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, the International Council of Design, and global design communities, along with designers from major Chinese cities and experts from top Chinese design institutions, participated in the event.

Future Spaces Vision Lab's Brain Visions project was showcased, exploring the interactions between people and their environments in rapidly growing, high-density cities like Shenzhen.
Brain Visions examined the subtle, intangible spatial dynamics crucial for the brain’s processing of environmental information. Using EEG technology, the project visualized the complex interplay between individuals and their surroundings, demonstrating how architectural visual stimuli impact the brain’s cognitive load and stress levels, offering deeper insights into how the brain processes urban environments.
