The project BROKEN has been honored with the prestigious Rising Star Award at Chinese CHI 2024, recognizing its innovative approach to stress management and public wellbeing.

BROKEN focuses on one of the most pressing issues in modern society—stress management—by empowering individuals to strengthen their self-efficacy and psychological resilience. Developed as an interactive experience, the project highlights the pivotal role of psychological capital (PsyCap), particularly self-efficacy, in overcoming stressful conditions and bolstering self-belief.

Using cutting-edge technology, BROKEN incorporates real-time bio-data detection and visualization through Electroencephalography (EEG), along with a motion capture system. By measuring and visualizing stress levels, participants are guided through interactive processes designed to trigger adaptive responses. The goal is not just to educate but also to inspire individuals to take proactive steps toward managing stress effectively.

The Rising Star Award celebrates innovative projects that showcase exceptional creativity, technical expertise, and societal impact. BROKEN stood out among other entries for its ability to merge technology with human-centered design, creating an experience that resonates deeply with today’s challenges.
